Meet the exceptional Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, Dr Mark Williams with a wealth of experience in Interventional and General Cardiology. Dr. Williams’ expertise encompasses a broad range of areas, including Chest Pain, Angina, Ischaemic Heart Disease, Coronary assessment and intervention, Heart failure, Valvular Heart Disease, Pulmonary Hypertension, and Left and Right Heart Catheterisation.
Dr Mark Williams’ journey began with his undergraduate studies in medicine and surgery at the renowned Kings College Hospital, University of London. After completing his initial medical training, he gained invaluable experience as a senior house officer before successfully passing the examinations and being awarded membership to the Royal Colleges of Physicians of England in the year 2000.
He went on to pursue specialist training in cardiology, during which he undertook a clinical research fellowship in Systemic sclerosis-associated pulmonary arterial hypertension at the Royal Free Hospital. Dr. Williams’ hard work and dedication were rewarded when he was awarded an MD in Clinical research from the University of London.
Following his research fellowship, Dr. Williams completed his specialist training in interventional cardiology at the Royal Sussex County (Brighton) and King’s College (London) Hospitals. He was subsequently appointed as Locum Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, before obtaining a substantive post as Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2013.
During his tenure at this institution, Dr. Williams played a key role in setting up a highly successful primary PCI service for treating heart attacks in the local population, and he also revamped the stable chest pain service, receiving positive feedback from both peers and patients.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions, Dr. Williams was elected a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in July 2017. He also served as the Clinical Director in Cardiology at Ashford & St Peter’s Hospital, where he continued to make a significant impact in the field of Interventional Cardiology. With his unwavering commitment to delivering outstanding patient care and his proven track record of excellence, Dr. Mark Williams remains a highly respected and influential doctor in the world of cardiology.
Honorary Senior Lecturer
Dr. Mark Williams has made significant contributions to medical education and research alongside his busy practice as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist. As an honorary Senior Lecturer at St George’s Hospital School of Medicine, he has taught medical colleagues at all levels, from medical students upwards, and has been the charge of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Cardiology at Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals.
