FAQ's
A cardiologist specializes in diagnosing and treating heart and blood vessel conditions. They work closely with patients to develop individualized treatment plans and provide ongoing care to help maintain heart health.
During your visit, the cardiologist will ask about your medical history and symptoms, perform a physical exam, and order any necessary tests or procedures. They will then discuss the diagnosis and treatment options with you and answer any questions you may have.
The most common symptoms of a heart attack are chest pain or discomfort, shortness of breath, nausea, lightheadedness, or discomfort in the arm or jaw. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should seek immediate medical attention.
A heart attack is typically diagnosed through a combination of medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests such as an electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests, and cardiac catheterization. Treatment for a heart attack may include medications, angioplasty, stent placement, or bypass surgery.
Risk factors for heart disease include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, obesity, diabetes, a family history of heart disease, and a sedentary lifestyle.
The frequency of heart checkups depends on your age, medical history, and risk factors for heart disease. It’s recommended that individuals over 40 years old have their heart checked every five years, and those with a higher risk of heart disease may need more frequent checkups.
While not all cases of heart disease can be prevented, many risk factors for heart disease can be controlled through lifestyle changes and medical management. Regular checkups with a cardiologist can also help detect early signs of heart disease and prevent complications.
